ISLAND ALL STARS SPORTS CLUB
HISTORY, BACKGROUND & VALUES
ABOUT THE CLUB
ISLAND ALLSTARS SPORTS CLUB is a social, family, networking and physical fitness club, based in the Island part of Lagos. It is registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission as an incorporated trustee and a not-for-profit organisation under Part C of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990, as amended, in the year 2008.
The Club, though with a recent history, has since grown from an initial group of five (5) men, playing football in a relatively obscure land setting somewhere in Abraham Adesanya Estate Ajah. Now to a large group of more than 300 active members drawn from across various professions, tribe and religion, playing football and other sports, like – Table Tennis, Aerobics, Gymnastics, Chess, Draft, Sucker, Ludo games, amongst others in a much more organized and urbane fashion within the premises of the prestigious Lagos Business School in Ajah, Lekki, Lagos.
The Club’s membership currently boasts of professionals from all works, to include but not limited to, lawyers, medical doctors, bankers, engineers, businesspersons, entrepreneurs, start-ups, ex and current professional footballers, amongst other professions. The Club enjoys a unique blend of tribal and religious diversity, which is its greatest asset and uniting force. Our Club Anthem and slogan are reminiscent of the philosophical ideals, which our Club has steadily instilled in our consciousness – that we are one family under God and therefore, together we can do and achieve great things for our Club, our community and ourselves.
Our Club has gradually progressed from an individualistic entity to a close-knit-family-oriented one, recognizing our African culture that an individual cannot be balanced and complete without his family. Thus, we have weekly sporting programmes specifically tailored to embrace our wives and children as a part of us.
Over the years, we have consistently existed as a responsible corporate social entity, by recognizing that charity and responsible living is the core of humanity. Through our “It-is-new-to-me” and our other annual charity programmes, we give back to the less privileged people in our society. We support public institutions like the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Road Safety Corps, hospitals, etc., by donating funds and essential materials to aid their services to humanity.
In pursuit of our growth ideals, the Club has recently acquired about 12 plots of land (with prospects to acquire more) off Ogombo Road by Lekki Scheme 2, Ajah, Lekki – Lagos, for the construction of our proposed Ultramodern Sports Centre and Club House. The land is currently valued to be above N250, 000,000.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) only.
ISLAND ALLSTARS SPORTS CLUB is a non-religious, non-tribal and non-ethnic, social and fraternal organisation brought together by our love for sports and knitted as one indivisible family by our unique goodwill and love for ourselves.
Together we do great things.
